4. NFL Thursday Night Football on CBS ($465,000 per 30 seconds)
Also known as the Run to the Playoffs, Thursday Night Football is the branding used for NFL broadcasts on Thursday nights beginning on week 2 of the regular season. And this season, CBS and NBC share the right to broadcast NFL.
Even though the overall ratings of NFL broadcasts are declining, there are still around 20 million people watching the NFL Thursday Night Football on CBS nowadays. And the network charges $465,000 per 30-second ads during the game.
Unfortunately, this contributes to the ratings’ decline itself. More and more commercial breaks take place during the game. While you want to watch the best NFL players on action without any interruptions.
Mostly after every touchdown, there will be commercial break. As a sport fan, I would want to absorb the emotion after that important score by watching how the team celebrates or regroups, whether I am on the winning or losing side.
