The white of the tigers is due a rare color mutation of the Timbavati area. The same happens with the tawny African Lion known as Panthera Leo Krugeri.
White lions are not a separate species as many of you might think. The white lions are just an extremely rare lion breed.
They can be found, but rarely, in the South African wildfire reserve. It is believed that are now only around 300 living white lions world-wide.
White lions can be selectively bred for zoos, animal shows and wildlife parks, but such breeding involves inbreeding that can result in inbreeding depression.
Because its rarity and its special mutation, the white lion cubs are worth $138,000.
