#9 Germain Royal Soup Tureen – $9.7 million
I bet you’ve never seen a $10 million Soup Turren!
It’s purpose was exactly what you imagine to be, hold soup and not get it cold fast.
Designed by Thomas Germain, a French silversmith of the Rococo, the royal soup tureen was a gift for Louis XV.
It was made in 1733 and it weighs 30 pounds.
Most of the value of the item comes from the correlation to Louis XVth and the fact that is one of the few luxury items that have reached auction level.
