4Badminton Cabinet – Price: $36 million
The Badminton Cabinet is a monumental piece of 18th-century furniture which was commissioned by Henry Somerset, 3rd Duke of Beaufort, at the age of 19.
Named after the Duke’s country seat, Badminton House, located in Gloucestershire, England, the ebony Badminton Cabinet twice set the record for the most expensive piece of furniture ever sold.
It took 30 experts and 6 years to make this 12-feet tall antique item that is embellished with coloured stones, including semi-precious gems.
On top of the Badminton Cabinet there’s a clock, beautifully marked with fleur-de-lis.
