‘Space Girl and Bird’ was painted on steel at the beginning of 2000 and was sold 7 years later, on April 21, at the Bonhams Vision 21, held in London.
As the name suggests, the painting depicts a little girl dressed as an astronaut, holding a little, yellow, bird.
Banksy portrays the spacesuit in a unique manner.
As you can see, the suit looks more like an old deep-sea drivers suit than an astronaut’s spacesuit.
Above the girl, there’s a dripping pink heart that floats high.
