3Sidney Mobell Monopoly Set – Price: $2 million
Sidney Mobell started out as a normal jeweler. He declared: ‘I figured that I had to do something as far as competition, something different that nobody else does.’
And he did! Priced at $2 million, his Monopoly Set is the 18-carat gold version of the famous Parker Brothers board game.
The idea of creating the third most expensive board game in the world came in 1988, when Sidney Mobell heard about a Monopoly tournament taking place in London.
After asking Parker Brothers for permission, the San Francisco jeweler put wheels in motion.
The set contains 165 rubies and sapphires, luxury cards, as well as 42 full-cut diamonds (the number dots).
The set of dice alone is $10.000.
