Top 10 Most Expensive Bottles of Wine in the World

5. Château Margaux 1787 — £133,000 ($225,000)

Meet number five, the most expensive wine never to be sold. Why is that? How did this bottle get to never be sold?

Another bottle from Thomas Jefferson’s collection was up to the auction. But this bottle never got the chance to be sold.

It was valued at a whopping price of $500,000 by its owner, a NY wine merchant called William Sokolin.

But no one got to taste it. Why? Because when William Sokolin took the wine with him to a Margaux dinner at the Four Season Hotel, a waiter knocked the bottle over, smashing it into thousands of pieces.

Insurers paid only half of the price the owner originally asked.

We’re only half way into our top 10 most expensive bottles of wine and the prices are close to a quarter of a million dollars! Can you guess how much does the most expensive wine cost?
