8. Bugatti Type 57S Atalante ($4.4 million)
As mentioned earlier, Bugatti Type 57 is the leading creation of Jean Bugatti. This series of model was entirely designed by him. In total, there were 710 units of Type 57 built, including this Type 57S Atalante.
This particular type has two-door coupe body style. Basically it shares similar design with the Type 57 Atlantic, but this one has one piece windscreen and no fin. There were only seventeen of this were made. And one of them hit the Bonhams auction house in Paris eight years ago. One lucky buyer took this baby home after bidding $4,408,575. This one was built in 1937 with chassis number 57502.
The other Atalante cars have also become collectible and valuable. Four can be found at Cité de l’Automobile Museum in France. One is at Museu do Caramulo in Portugal. And another one is owned by the French government.
This type’s chassis and engine was revived in the 1950s as Bugatti Type 101.
