14. JFK’s Casket: $4,000
People around the world mourned the day John F. Kennedy was assassinated. Even if you don’t admire him as a leader, his death would still give you chill down the spine.
November 22nd, 1963 was a dark day. As Kennedy was on his way to give a speech at the Dallas Trade Mart Luncheon, he was shot to death. The footage is horrifying. And even after many years, many people are still unable to shake off that nightmare.
This all-bronze casket is not the one he was buried in. It was where he was carried as they transported him from Dallas back to Washington D.C. on the Air Force One. Thus, people call this casket the original JFK’s casket as it was the first one used to lay his body down.
Estimated to worth around $4,000, this casket was disposed of at sea. In 1966, this casket was pushed out of a C-130E military transport to sink into the Atlantic Ocean. The process was said to be done in a quiet, sure, and dignified manner.
