Most Expensive Celebrity Memorabilia Sold At Auction

5) Steve McQueen’s ‘Le Mans’ Racing Suit -$984,000

This particular item was something Morry Barmak, owner of Collector Studio, wanted to have in his gallery of motor sports art and memorabilia.

In order to do that, he spent almost a decade trying to buy Steve McQueen’s racing suit from the film Le Mans into his collection.

When that finally happened, he thought selling the jacket for a profit will benefit him more. He spent a year trying to get a buyer for it, even told his friends, colleagues and customers about it.

In 2011, he succeeded. Selling the jacket for $155,000 was something he was hoping it would happen.

But, four months later, Morry found out that the same racing suit would be sold as part of the “Icons of Hollywood” auction. And it did sell, for $948,000.

Morry should have kept the jacket a little longer and its profits would have grown. But he didn’t.
