8.Gorau Glas – $40
Country of origin: Wales,UK
The making of this cheese was actually an accident. A farmer’s wife produced the cheese by accident and it was once UK’s most expensive cheese at twice the price of a regular one.
The cheese was invented on a farm in Anglesey , Wales by Margaret Davies.
The happy incident took place after Margaret attended a cheese-making course that was originally intended for her son.
Initially, the Gorau Glas was priced at 27 pounds per kilogram but now it is sold at $40 per pound!
The Gorau Glas is a blue-veined soft cheese of high quality made with milk from the family’s diary farm!
Margaret says that the cheese is so expensive because of the high-quality ingredients and the laborious work it is needed for the making of it! The locals love it and so do the fancy restaurants.
