5. Mercedes Benz SLS AMG Electric Drive – $550,000
The SLS AMG E-Drive is fuelled by four motors, totalling 740bhp and 184lb of torque, making this one of the most powerful Mercedes Benz’s ever produced.
Each 400 lithium-ion battery is liquid cooled and when it’s put to the test around a track, it’s only 0.3 seconds slower than its petrol-powered equal. Outwardly, it really doesn’t look any different either, with the same recognisable Mercedes shape. Inside, it has beautifully luxurious leather upholstery, racing-style bucket seats, and a media system that records engine performance for all those obsessive petrol heads out there.
It might not have the number one spot on the list of the most expensive electric cars, but it’s definitely one of the most stylish.
