The 1942 Martin D-18 acoustic guitar is one of Elvis Presley’s most iconic musical instruments.
The King purchased the Martin D-18 in the early 1950s and recorded his first hits between 1954 and 1956.
Those early recordings, known as the ‘Sun Sessions’ were the ones that brought Elvis Presley fame.
It has been reported to be the King’s first guitar. Handcrafted in the Martin guitar factory, which was at that time located in Nazareth, Pennsylvania, the guitar was sold in 1993, at Christie’s.
