Next on our top list is the national museum of art, the Prado Museum, ranked first in Spain and 11th internationally.

Established in 1819, this museum is located in Madrid, the capital and largest city of Spain.

Considered a historical site, Prado Museum features around 7.600 paintings, 1.000 sculptures, 4.800 prints and 8.200 drawings, in addition to a large number of other works of art and historic documents dating from the 12th century to the early 19th century, based on the former Spanish Royal Collection.

The best-known work on display at Museo del Prado is definitely ‘Las Menina’ by Velazquez.

Valued at $73 million, Prado Museum, built during the reign of Charles III, is visited by 2 million people, annually.
