6. Ferrari 250 GT California Spider SWB ($18,500,000)
Looking at that beauty on the picture above, you wouldn’t have thought that this baby was found abandoned in a barn somewhere in France. This 1961 Ferrari 250 GT California Spider was once belonged to a French actor, Alain Delon. And there is a picture of him in this car along with Jane Fonda and Shirley MacLaine.
How did it end up in a barn? No one knows. Apparently, whoever ditched it did not realize how precious it is. After several restoration processes, this car was ready to hit the auction at Artcurial in Paris, France last year. And one bidder took it home for $18.5 million. With that much money spent, I don’t think he will abandon this car like its previous owner did.
Compared to its predecessors, this car has gone through several changes. One of them is the obvious, its smaller wheelbase. Besides that, it is powered by a 280-PS version of the 3.0-L V12 engine.
There were only fifty five of them built. Besides this one, another car is owned by DJ Chris Evans who bought it for £5.5 million from James Coburn. And another one was recently auctioned at the Omni Amelia Island Plantation for $17.16 million.
