9. Ferrari 250 LM ($17,600,000)
Ferrari 250 LM cars dropped some jaws at several auction houses not just once. One by one, they were sold at $7 million in 2008, $14.3 million in 2013, $11.5 million in 2014, and then this one at $17.6 million in 2015.
All of these purchases took place at RM Auctions house except for the 2013’s event which was held by Sotheby’s. And earlier this year, one of them hit the auction again. But it was unable to break this 2015’s record. Regardless, it was sold at a whopping price of $9.7 million anyway.
Ferrari 250 LM is one of the Ferrari P series, which were the sports prototype racing cars. This was the evolution of the race-winning car back in the 1960s, Ferrari 250 P.
The LM stands for Le Mans as Jochen Rindt and Masten Gregory won the 1965 24 Hours of Le Mans race with this car. There were only 32 of them made. And each of them is powered by a 3.3-L V6 engine.
