8. Ferrari 250 GT California Spider Competizione LWB ($18,150,000)
Next up is another model from the Ferrari 250 GT series. This Ferrari 250 GT California Spider Competizione was sold at auction just a couple of months ago. It took place at Gooding & Company auction event in California, United States. And one bidder took this car home for $18.15 million.
As mentioned before, LWB stands for long-wheelbase. That means this car is equipped with a 2,600-mm wheelbase. And Spider is the Italian word for Spyder, which means it is a two-seater convertible car. A sweet ride to drive the smug in your face around.
The car model was designed for export to North America. And this was first produced before the SWB version superseded it in 1960. Started manufactured just three years prior to that, there were only fifty of them made.
And before this one hit the 2016 auction, another one already did in 2007. It hit the auction in the same state as this one. However, it was sold for only $4.9 million. Still, that is way beyond its initial retail price which was just around a couple hundred thousand dollars.
