This flower can be found from Mexico to Venezuela, Brazil, the warmer parts of America but it is native of Sri Lanka.
Around this flower many believes were founded over the years and one of them is that the people who pray during the flowers blooming their wishes will be fulfilled.
Another old folks story is that it was named after the Hindu god of creation and it is the root of his creation.
Even in Japan it has a unique history being called the Gekka Bijin, meaning “Beauty under the moon.”
The unique flowers have an impressive but brief moment of glory because it takes more than a year to bloom and it last only a couple of hours.
Nobody offered to buy the flower because this particular plant is very hard to cultivate and it’s difficult to remove it from the stem.
Risking to damage the flower with any alteration or misguided cultivating techniques, the Kadupul is fragile and has a very short lifespan.
At the moment of blossom it emanates a sweet fragrance and last for a couple of minutes the smell that calms you down.
This flower never made it to any shop even the online ones and stays first on the top of most expensive flowers because it is priceless due to its beauty and elegance.
For the flower enthusiasts there is no explanation why the flower dies so quickly but they will feel lucky if in this lifetime they will see and smell this beautiful night princess blooming.
