Uncover the Most Expensive Fountain in the World: The Dubai Fountain
Find out more about one of the best acquisitions in Dubai, and that is the most expensive fountain in the world.
As always, Dubai has managed to impress us with stunning, expensive creations.
This time is not another luxurious hotel nor an artificial island, but a gorgeous fountain.
And as always, Dubai has managed to hold on to the #1 position.
Not only their creation is the costliest in the world, but it is also the world’s tallest performing fountain.
Let’s get straight to business, shall we?
Located on the Burj Khalifa Lake, the highest-priced fountain was designed by WET Design, the California-based company which has also designed the fountains at the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas.
Built at a cost of $218 million (AED 800 million) the world’s most expensive fountain‘s name was chosen after a contest organized by the developer Emaar Properties, the result of which was announced on October 26, 2008.
Inaugurated on May 8th, 2009, along with the official opening ceremony of The Dubai Mall, the 902.2-foot-long exotic fountain sprays jets up to 500 feet high (equivalent to a 50-storey building), and it can also spray almost 22.000 gallons of water in the air at any given point of time, in several directions and shape combinations.
Based on that idea, the water jets can be set to different computer synchronized music that range from classical to contemporary global and Arabian music.
Among popular songs are included the Swahili song ‘Baba Yetu’ (a Grammy award-winning song in Swahili and the ‘Civilization IV’ video game soundtrack) and top Arab dance song ‘Shik Shak Shok’.
So if you are in Dubai and you want to enjoy the music shows, the music performances last only 30 minutes, from 1:00 PM and from 1:30 PM on weekdays and from 6 PM to 11 PM on weekends (Thursday, Friday and Saturday).
The music playlist also includes :
– ‘Sama Dubai’, which is the first song that plays and it’s a tribute to Sheikh Mohammed, Dubai’s ruler;
– ‘Inshed An Aldar’ (meaning ‘Ask About Home’, an Emirati song which was written for the inauguration of the Burj Khalifa (4 January 2010);
– ‘I will always love you’ by Whitney Houston;
– ‘All night long’ by Lionel Richie;
– ‘Thriller’ by Michael Jackson;
– ‘The Prayer’ by Andrea Bocelli and Celine Dion;
– ‘Flying Drum’ Vertical Orchestra – Drums;
– ‘Ishy Bilady’ (the UAE National Anthem).
At night, the costliest fountain in the world gets more stunning, thanks to 25 color projectors and 6.600 WET superlights. The glow of the WET lights can be seen from a distance of over 20 miles.
This is the Most Valuable Fountain in the World!
