#2 Pink Star Diamond – $1.4 million per carat
It was the only flawless vivid pink diamond mined in 1999, in South Africa.
Weighing 59.6 carats (11.92 grams), the Pink Star Diamond was sold for $83 million at Sotheby’s. That’s $1.4 million per carat.
As the name suggests, it has a beautiful fancy vivid pink color (rated by the Gemological Institute of America).
Formerly known as the Steinmetz Pink, this gemstone was unveiled in a public ceremony just in 2003, in Monaco.
From 2007 to 2013, it was nicknamed The Pink Star, and from 2013, The Pink Dream. But for us, it remains Pink Star Diamond.
