And the world’s second most expensive helicopter belongs to Sikorsky. With $65 million of estimated price, CH-53K King Stallion will be the most expensive helicopter from this manufacturer.
Sikorsky Aircraft is currently developing this large, heavy-lift cargo helicopter for the United States Marine Corps (USMCs). And General James F. Amos announced that this model’s name during the official roll-out in 2014 as King Stallion.
This aircraft will be the largest and the heaviest helicopter. It will be able to carry forty passengers. The introduction is scheduled for 2018. But the first flight was done two years ago. And it has been through several testing development since then.
This aircraft utilizes not one, not two, but three General Electric GE 38-1B turboshaft engines that produce 7,500 shp each. With such power, King Stallion can climb 762 meters per minute. And it can fly as far as 841 kilometers with 315 kph maximum speed.
