1. Bell Boeing V-22 Osprey ($68 million)
Here we are with the most expensive helicopter in the world, Bell Boeing V-22 Osprey. It is a multi-mission military helicopter used by the U.S Marine Corps and Air Force since ten years ago.
Not many people know that Osprey took decades of development from the first time it took a fly test to the day it was finally introduced. One of the reasons why is the fact that it is the first helicopter to use tilt-motor technology. This technology combines the vertical performance of a helicopter with the speed and range of a fixed-wing aircraft.
Built with two Rolls-Royce AE1107C Liberty Turboshaft engines, Osprey can go so far and so fast. Its top speed reaches 500 kph. And its maximum range is 1,627 kilometers. Its awesome feature does not stop right there. Osprey can fly up to more than seven thousand meters high with 963 meters per minute rate-of-climb.
We put together a video of the 10 most expensive helicopters in the world so you can see them in action which is worth sharing with your friends!
With such performance and also efforts put into its development, do you think Osprey’s $68 million price is worth it?
