1Ruby Slippers by Harry Winston – Price: $3 million
Well this must come as a surprise. The costliest pair of high heels is not made by Stuart Weitzman, but by Ronald Winston, the son of Harry Winston.
Created in 1989, in celebration of the 50 year anniversary of the ‘Wizard of Oz’, the dazzling shoes feature 4.600 red rubies summing up 1.350 carats, and 50 carats worth of diamonds.
It took two months of non-stop work to get them done. Only the movie’s lead star, Judy Garland, has gotten the honor of wearing the most expensive pair of shoes in the world.
‘A shoe is not only a design, but it’s a part of your body language, the way you walk. The way you’re going to move is quite dictated by your shoes.’ – Christian Louboutin
