7.L.L. Bean Penobscot Canoe by Old Town – $1.899
Number 7 and one of the most expensive American items is nothing else but a canoe.
This American L.L. Bean Penobscot Canoe by Old Town has a “straight keel line, sharp V-entry bow and shallow-arch bottom,” and it costs $1.899.
The canoe is made for tracking across windy lakes, its narrow design making it the fastest in its class.
L.L. Bean company was founded in 1912 and its headquarters are based in Freeport Maine. The company creates high quality apparel and outdoor equipment and is a family-owned business.
The canoe tracks well on flat water as well, the Royalex material providing a tough but lightweight alternative to the polyethylene models.
This canoe holds up to the Old Town reputation. I gave it a 10, because it it does what it is designed to do.
