Inspired by Herbet Asbury’s 1928 book ‘The Gangs of New York’, the film begins in 1846, but quickly jumps to 1862.
With a budget of $103 million, ‘Gangs of New York’ made $77.812.000 million in Canada and US, $23.763.699 million in Japan and $16.358.580 in the UK. Worldwide, ‘Gangs of New York’ has grossed a total of $193.772.504.
And the American actor received a paycheck worth $10 million plus gross points.
