The painting not only just break the artist’s auction record, but it also exceeded it by more than threefold (the previous record was $2.3 million).
‘Untitled’, an oil-and-charcoal painting on stretched canvas, wasn’t Robert Ryman’s only famous artwork. ‘Convention 2002’ sold for $6.9 million at Sotheby’s New York.
