Brice Marden, an American American artist, generally described as Minimalist, although it is difficult to categorize his work, ranks #4 on our top 10 list of the most expensive living American artists in the world.
Born on October 15, 1938, Brice Marden painted ‘The Attended (1996-1999)’, an oil on canvas painting with a thick network of curving calligraphic lines, which was sold by SAC Capital founder Steven Cohen for $10.9 million in 2013, at Sotheby’s New York.
Brice Marden’s talent was awarded by the Brown University.
In 2000, he received an honorary degree of ‘Doctor of Fine Arts’. Two years earlier, the artist joined the American Academy of Arts and Letters.
