It is the world’s first production tiltrotor aicraft, with one 3-bladed proprotor, turboprop engine and transmission nacelle mounted on each wingtip.
Classified as a powered lift aircraft by the Federal Aviation Administration, the Osprey features 2 Rolls-Royce AE 1107C engine that are connected by drive shafts to a common central gearbox so that 1 engine can power both proprotors if an engine failure occurs.
