That year “The Black Cat” became Universal Picture’s biggest box office hit and was also notable for being one of the first movies with an almost continuous music score.
With the first of two appearances of Boris Karloff/Bela Lugosi in the horror The Black Cat, the film was released on the Saturday Evening Post in 1934.
Its “Style D” one-sheet poster went for $286,800 in 2007. First time it went for $288,800 but last year reached $334,600 in an auction of the most expensive movie posters.
