3.1931 Oscar for Best Picture “Skippy” – Price:$301,973
Pay attention to this one because we’ve got a legend here!
The movie “Skippy” was released all the way back in 1931 and tells the story of two boys, Skippy and Sooky that met in the poor Shantytown. The boys try to save Sooky’s pet from the hands of a horrible dogcatcher.
At the Oscar Awards in 1931, the director Norman Taurog went home with the Best Picture Oscar for “Skippy”.
But what’s even more impressive is that by then he was no more than 32 years old which made him the youngest director to ever win an Oscar statuette!
So given the circumstances, I’m surprised the statue was later auctioned for only $301,973!
