Although The Academy Awards is an annual awards ceremony honoring cinematic achievements in the film industry for more than eight decades it is also an occasion when actors and actresses bring out “the big guns” when it comes to their appearance.
In order to look flawless they are willing to take out money from their pockets to hire stylists, purchase or loan dresses and jewellery. Some of them are paid great amounts of money to wear certain pieces from different designers, and we are talking BIG money.
As the 88th edition of The Academy Awards will take place on the 28th of February we cannot help but wonder what our favourite actresses and actors will choose to wear this year and who will (maybe) top our Most Expensive Oscars Jewellery list!

10. Angelina Jolie ($3,5 million)
We will start our top 10 most expensive Oscars jewellery list with one of the most beautiful actresses, Angelina Jolie!
Angelina Jolie always looks great on the red carpet but she really stunned us when she attended the 2009 Academy Awards wearing a beautiful black gown by Elie Saab from the Spring 2009 Haute Couture collection.
Jolie walked on the red carpet alongside Brad Pitt and rocked a pair of Colombian emerald drop earrings, weighing a total of 115 carats, by Lorraine Schwartz worth $2,5 million. She matched her stunning earrings with a 65-carat emerald ring, worth over $1 million.
It seems almost impossible that emeralds this large exist, but certainly makes sense that Angelina Jolie would not only know of them, but also wear them. Her jewellery perfectly complimented her beautiful green eyes and was the icing on the cake to Angie’s outfit.

The actress was dressed in teal silk and had the honour of wearing the replica of the Heart of the Ocean necklace portrayed in the movie.
