7.Reference 2449/100P “Eric Clapton” in Platinum – $3,637,844
The 2449/100P “Eric Clapton” in Platinum model is what some might call – perfect.
The watch features a perfectly proportioned case and dial layouts combined with the three complications which define some of the most desired references of Patek even today: a perpetual calendar, phase of the moon indication and chronograph.
Patek started manufacturing the 2499 in 1951 and produced about ten watches ever year for over 35 years. Only 349 pieces still exist and almost all of them were produced in yellow gold while only 10 were made in pink gold and just 2 were cased in platinum.
One of the two models produced in platinum left Patek’s hands and ended up in the collection of the famous rock legend Eric Clapton.
The first time it was available to the public, it sold at Christie’s auction for more than $3.6 million!
