1. Montegrappa Tibaldi Fulgor Nocturnus ($8 million)
That’s right. The world’s most expensive pen is nowhere near any other pens in terms of its price tag. With $8 million, you can buy a house, a car, or even a yacht. Yet somehow, one person chose to buy this luxury fountain pen instead.
So, what would make him choose this than a house or a car?
The concept of this pen is remarkable. It is based on the divine proportion of Phi which is also known as the golden ratio. This goes way back to some of the ancient cultures of humanity.
What is this golden ratio? 1:1.618.
What does it have to do with this pen? This ratio applies to the comparison between the pen’s cap and visible barrel.
Math aside, this Tibaldi Fulgor Nocturnus pen is encrusted with around 1,000 gems. More than 900 of them are black diamonds and the rest are rubies around the rim.
The Italian pen manufacturer, Montegrappa, only produced one Fulgor Nocturnus pen. It was sold at auction in Shanghai for a record-breaking $8 million.
And that’s a wrap on our most expensive pens list. What do you think about these? Will you consider buying any of them or do you find it ridiculous to spend this amount of money for a writing instrument? Share your thoughts on the comment section. See you there!
