10. Montblanc Boheme Papilliion ($198,000)

Our next pen comes from a brand that is probably more familiar to you, Montblanc. For more than a century, Montblanc has been manufacturing writing instruments, especially luxurious fountain pens. But do you know that this German company also manufactures watches, sunglasses, perfume, and jewelry?

This Boheme Papillion pen is one of Montblanc’s masterpieces. You can choose any of the available color scheme based on the gold used to craft the pen: white, yellow, or rose. In addition to that, more than one thousand diamonds are encrusted into it.

This special edition pen was sold at €180,000 each, or around $198,000 today. Besides the obvious gold and diamonds, sapphires reaching into the pen’s internal spring mechanism are also responsible for that staggering price.

Unfortunately, there are so many fake Montblanc pens out there. That is just the “perk” of being one of the most popular brands in the world. To avoid buying those, notice that all Montblanc pens’ barrel should reveal a reddish hue under strong lightning.
