Caran d’Ache is another world-renowned luxury items manufacturer which specializes in crafting exclusive writing instruments. This one is headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland.
The manufacturer crafted only one of this special pen. It was made for a special occasion to honor the late Antonio Gaudi. Robert Perron designed and worked on this pen for no less than six months.
Produced in 1999, it hit the market two years afterward. Harrods, a luxury store in London which is known for its expensive perfume collection, put this pen on sale in 2001. It was sold to a lucky buyer who remains anonymous. He spent $265,000 for this Caran d”ache La Modernista Diamond pen.
When it says diamond, it means diamond. This rhodium-coated silver pen is encrusted with over 5,000 Wesselton diamonds which weigh a total of 20 carats. And to beautify it, Perron added 96 rubies which weigh a total of 32 carats. To top it off, he crafted the pen’s nib from rhodium-coated 18K gold.
