1.Patek Phillipe Henry Graves Supercomplication
Some of the most expensive pocket watches in the world have also a great story behind them beside their exquisite and refined qualities.
This is the case of the Patek Phillipe Henry Graves Supercomplication, a pocket watch who was finished in the year 1932 after 4 years of hard work.
In 1927 banker Henry Graves Jr. a very wealthy man commissioned a watch who was supposed to be the watch with the biggest number of complications in the world.
The passion for this outstanding piece of art started when the banker started a competition with another of America’s richest elites, Ohio automobile engineer James Ward Packard.
To win this competition Henry Graves received a 24 complication Patek Philippe pocket watch made out of 900 unique parts.
The 80 years old watch was sold at an auction for 11 million dollars and is the most expensive pocket watch ever made or sold.
From the usual complications Patek put in his Supercomplications, this particular one has a one of a kind feature made specially for Henry Graves.
The two faces, yellow gold watch has a celestial chart based on the night sky above Graves’ home in New York.
What do you think? Would you trade your expensive watch for a pocket watch? Who do you think would buy one of the most expensive pocket watches in the world because how you saw these where auctioned and nothing was said about the owners.
