Most Expensive Post Stamps Ever Sold | TOP 10

Have you ever wondered how much does a post stamp cost? I did. And then I found this amazing list of 10 most expensive post stamps ever sold.

I have to tell you that when I was younger and had a collection of stamps never crossed my mind that they could sell for thousands or even millions of dollars.

And the most expensive post stamps ever sold are…

10- 1840 Great Britain 1d “Penny Black” – $345,131

Number ten is an 1840 Great Britain 1d “Penny Black” stamp, the first ever adhesive postage stamp.

I know what you may have thought. That there are many others stamps now on the market that go for more than $345,131, but the first adhesive postage stamp couldn’t pass without being here.

The world record for a Penny Black is held at $345,131 by Spink.

After the illustrious London auction house sold a mint condition example in 2011 from one of the first ever registration sheets, which was an imprimatur created before the famous stamp went into full production.

Other examples from the same sheet are housed in the Royal Philatelic Collection and in the National Postal Museum.
