6- 1918 United States 24c “Inverted Jenny” – $977,500
The world most famous misprint, the Inverted Jenny is possibly one of the best-known rarities in the world.
It is called Inverted Jenny because of the upside-down image of a Curtiss JN-4 “Jenny” bi-plane – mistakenly printed on one pane of 100 stamps.
With only 100 stamps to give the collectors a chill the others dispersed throughout the philatelic world. You see how the collectors react when they see a rarity.
In 2007, Robert A Siegel sold a mint single for $977,500, while a block of four made $2.7m in 2005.
