3. Sea Cloud ($100 million)
Sea Cloud went by many names: Hussar V, Angelita, Patria, and Antarna. This boat has gone places and seen a lot of things, including the heinous World War II.
Yep, that is how old this boat is. It was built in 1931 by Krupp Germaniawerft shipyard Kiel, Germany. During the World War II, under the name of Hussar V, Sea Cloud was chartered by the United States Armed Forces.
After the war, it was returned to private ownership. Angelita was its name as it was owned by Dominican Republic dictator, Rafael Trujillo. Long story short, it was bought from Clifford Barbour and went through a rebuilding process in 1978. This particular process cost nearly $100 million.
Sea Cloud was designed by Cox & Stevens. It can carry up to thirty four guests. And to cater those guests’ needs, sixty crews can get on board. If you are interested, Sea Cloud is available for a luxury charter anytime you want.
Besides being the third most expensive, this boat is also the largest one in the world with its 96.35-meter length.
