We are just one step away from revealing the world’s most expensive sailing yacht! Let’s take a look at the runner-up first.
Eos has 82.6-meter length, but if you include its bowsprit, it is 92.93-meter long. With such size, it should come as no surprise that it is the forth largest sailing yacht in the world. Launched in 2006 in Bremen, Germany by the Lürssen, this high priced sailboat took three years to build. The cost is estimated to be €100 million (around $111 million).
This three-masted rigged schooner was built for and owned by a movie and media billionaire, Barry Diller. But during construction, this fact was classified. What we knew was the exterior was designed by Langan Design and the interior was by Francois Catroux.
Five years ago, it was refitted at Royal Huisman. On its first sail after refitting, it caught fire and sent back to the yard to be repaired. It can carry up to sixteen guests. None of them were injured during the unfortunate event.
