2.The Long Kiss Goodnight – $4 Million
I can’t decide if the movies were better before 2000, or the writers just knew better how to do business.
The action movie, The Long Kiss Goodnight, starring Geena Davis and Samuel L. Jackson was released back in 1996 and it wasn’t really a success, but the writer earned some good money.
Shane Black is the man who wrote the script and he was also one of the producers. Already known for the script he wrote for the movie Lethal Weapon in 1987, Shane was already famous and of course, he had some high standards. Therefore, he sold the script for The Long Kiss Goodnight for no less than 4 million dollars!
Unfortunately, that wasn’t such a smart investment because the movie was a total flop earning. With a budget of 65 million dollars, The Long Kiss Goodnight only managed to earn a total of almost 90 million dollars. That’s a shame.
