Check out these 15 Most Expensive Sport Memorabilia

6. Babe Ruth First Yankee Stadium Home Run Bat ($1.265 million or $1.625 million today)

Here is another Babe Ruth memorabilia. And this one is indeed the one to remember. After signing the 1919 contract to remark his transfer from Red Sox to Yankees, Ruth’s legendary baseball journey was about to begin.

And Ruth’s first home run at the Yankees Stadium did not just mark his great early years with the club, but also a symbolic power transfer from Red Sox to Yankees which went along with his move. That home run took place in 1923. And in that particular year, Yankees won the World Series while Red Sox finished last. That was just a tip of The Curse of Bambino‘s iceberg.

In 2004, Sotheby’s held a special auction with hundreds of baseball memorabilia lots called The Babe Comes Home. One of which was the bat Ruth used to swing and hit that legendary home run.

Mastronet Inc., a memorabilia company from Chicago, bid the lot for $1.265 million on behalf of an anonymous buyer from New York. It did not break any record, but with $1.625 million of value today, that is still a hell of a sale.
