7Citi Field – $989 million
Located in Flushing Meadows-Corona Park in the New York City, Citi Field is the 7th most valuable stadium in the world, built at a total cost of $989 million.
Built at a replacement for the formerly adjacent Shea Stadium, Citi Field was completed in 2009 and it is the home of Major League’s Baseball’s New York Mets.
Citi Field has a capacity of 41.922, over 15.000 fewer seats than Shea Stadium.
Its interior design is primarily influenced by PNC Park, the favorite ballpark of Mets COO, Jeff Wilpon.
Other influences include Citizens Bank Park, Coors Field and Great American Ball Park.
It also features an overarching bridge motif in its architecture and, in the outfield section of the ballpark, there’s a pedestrian bridge named Shea Bridge which resembles the Hell Gate Bridge.
