Here we are, ladies and gentlemen! The most expensive stone statue ever sold is the Guennol Lioness, a 5.000-year-old limestone Mesopotamian statue, found near Baghdad, Iran.

Measuring a little over 8 cm in height, the Guennol Lioness depicts a muscular anthropomorphic lioness-woman, and was sold in 2007 for a whopping price of $57.2 million by Sotheby’s.

The sculpture went through the hands of Alastair Bradley Martin, a private collector and then in the hands of Joseph Brummer, in 1948.

After that, the Guennol Lioness was at Brooklyn Museum of Art, located in New York City, until it was sold in 2007.
