1) Batman Forever Batmobile – $297,000
You know that over the years, the Batmobile has taken many different shapes and colors.
The first appearance of the Batmobile was in Detective Comics #48 in 1941 as a red convertible with a bat-shaped hood ornament.
The first standard design of the Batmobile was done in 1944 by artist, Dick Sprang who added red stripes to the otherwise dark car. However, 1995’s Batman Forever saw one of the boldest makeovers for the super car.
The Batman Forever Batmobile featured simulated ribs, a large fin and wings. Barbara Ling, an artist who assisted with the design of the car said “I wanted the Batmobile to look like a living, breathing thing.”
In December 2007, a replica Batmobile used for promotion of Batman Forever, was sold by RM Auctions for $297,000.
Rules outlined in the auction description stated that the car could only be driven solely when necessary for maintenance purposes, but may never be driven in public view.
