4. Spyker D8 Peking-to-Paris ($300,000)

With the original name of Spyker D12, this 5-door crossover SUV was introduced at Geneva Motor Show in 2006. The name was changed along with the engine change. It was supposed to be equipped with a 6.0-L W-12 engine. But it was changed into a V-8 in 2010.

How come a car has 5 doors? Spyker D8 has four normal doors and one extra back seat door hinged at the rear. It is called the suicide door. Don’t ask me why.

It was named Peking-to-Paris as the car designer, Michiel van den Brink, was inspired by the 1907 endurance rally. The event started in Peking (now Beijing) and the finish line was in Paris. It took three months to complete. And the Spyker car joined the rally to finish second.

The car features 4-wheel drive, carbon-ceramic matrix brakes, and all aluminum construction. This car was supposed to be released in 2014 with $300,000 price tag. But it got caught up with the company’s bankruptcy issues. The only cars produced by the manufacturer today are the Spyker C8 Aileron and Spyker C8 Preliator.
