2. Warrior One Hummer H1 ($1.25 million)
And the runner up for world’s highest priced SUV is Warrior One Hummer H1. Manufactured by AM General, this particular Hummer H1 was used by CNN’s journalists to cover stories of war in Iraq.
This car was based on US army’s M998 Humvee (HMMWV – High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle). But since those military cars cannot be used by civilian, this Hummer H1 was created. Launched in 1992, it hit its sales record from 1995 through 1997 with average annual sale of over 1,300 units. The same sales rate was achieved on the car’s last year of production, 2006.
In 2007, this Warrior One Hummer H1 was sold for $1.25 million. Only $1 million went to the car’s previous owner, Dave Ressler. The additional $250,000 went to charity benefit.
The original Hummer H1 is sold with a price tag of $150,975. Both the original and this modified Warrior One edition is powered by a 6.2-L V-8 Detroit Diesel engine with 4-speed automatic GM 4L80-E transmission.
