The 18th Century Baoteng Saber is not only the second most expensive sword ever sold at an auction, but is also the most expensive item from the ancient Chinese Imperial bladed arms!
This particular sword was created in the 18th century, during the reign of the Qianlong emperor from 1736 to 1795.
But what’s fascinating about this sword is its fantastic design, with its intricate hilt and sheath that feature numerous tiny and carefully made carvings.
The Baoteng Saber was sold at Sotheby’s Hong Kong in 2006 for the price of $5.9 million!
