One of the reasons Anastasia falls in love with wealthy Christian Grey is the gifts he buys her.

Whenever she feels down or left out he gives her some expensive things.
For example Grey gives her his definitely-not-Vista-Print business card and a first-edition Tess of the d’Urbervilles by Thomas Hardy which can go for $14,000.
