The result of a 10 year research program founded by the EMPA institute of the ETH Domain, the gold tie is a mixture of 24 carat gold witch is sprayed on the surface of the cotton or silk, atom by atom by the textile experts at the institute.
Reminding us that modern technology can do everything, the experts created something exclusive and most important very expensive for a tie.
For a price of 8500$ when it first appeared in 2012, the golden tie has been manufactured in a first limited edition of a dozen, each tie containing 8 grams of 24 carat gold fixed to the silk with a special plasma coating machine.
